Question: How do i make a flat wall against the interior of a log cabin w/o cutting into logs or making mouse channels?

This is a hard one. I'm trying to add one sheet- rocked wall to the interior of a log cabin. The log cabin is (of course) made of logs and stacked logs are not a flat surface. So if I put a flat wall against it, on the ends there will be holes between where each log contacts the new flat wall. Each of these holes is a potential place that mice can enter and make their new home. To make things more difficult, the logs have wooden chinking aka molding between each log to help insulate so cutting a piece of wood to fit would be a nightmare. They are also very heavily oiled. I don't have permission from the owner to cut into the logs so it would have to be something that conforms to the surface. I was thinking of using drywall compound with wire mesh or screen. Another option would be mortar or QUIKRETE. Would these stick to oily wood? Or does anyone have any other ideas? Not too expensive is important too since there is a lot of space to fill. Thanks. |
