Im having an argument (discussion) with my friend about alsations/german shepherds can u help please?
hi there,. up untill now i have always believed that an alsation and a german shepherd are the same breed with different names for some reason or another. i even researched it on the internet and founf that they do indeed seem to be the same breed with the name changed from german shepherd to alsation after the war, and then back to german shepherd again when the name alsation started getting a bad rep. i believed this for years, and i really do still think this is true. am i correct?my friend on the other hand, his grandad owns and shows dogs, and has done for years. he says that the alsation and german shepherd are completely different dogs. he says they have different breed standards, different coat types, that they are different sizes, and have a differnt gait im not sure what that means he says the alsation was bred from the german shepherd.anyways, i was just wondering if one of you could please settle this argument. obviously my friend thinks his grandad can not get it wrong at all because he shows dogs, but i kinda think, he doesnt show german shepherds, he shows westies, so he wouldnt know much about other breeds anyway? please help us settle this argument

8 month old German Shepherds Ears?
This is our first pure bred German Shepherd. His right ear stands straight up and has for a long time. But his left ear is very floppy. Everything I read says if he is over 6 or 7 months old then his ear will most likely not stand. Is this true?

What's a good German name for a German Shepherd dog?
I am currently getting a German Shepherd from a local breeder that happened tobuy 2 German Shepherds from Germany from different breeders there and theymade puppies so I am purchasing one female puppy. The breeder said something about how the female puppy is the alpha. So I'm basically trying to find a German name for my puppy.
