Shock training collar?
My dog constantly barks which may be a problem when I move to my new house. I was thinking of getting a training collar that gives off a small electrical shock. Is it humane to use them, and would it do any good?ThanksThis is for the silly moo Lyric who told me to give my dog away to a loving home. The reason why I asked the question in the first place is to ensure that I don't do anything to hurt my dog.I love my animal very much, so unless you have some constructive advice, don't bother opening your mouth you oxygen thief Thanks
What do you think about the different kinds of training collars?
Example Prong, choker, gentle leader

Question about a training collar?
I just bought a training collar for my dog. It came with this little take attached to it, and i don't know if i can remove it or not. It kind of looks like something that is used for security purposes in the store, but i'm afraid to cut it off without knowing exactly what it is I know this might seem like a dumb question, but i don't want to waste $90 by cutting off something i shouldn't have Thanks. It is a Guardian Large Dog Trainer. The tag i am talking about doesn't look like a normal ink filled security tag. It looks like regular tag, but has a thicker metal like string attaching it. Thanks for the help Didn't ask for your opinions about my decision to use this product, so keep them to yourself.
Are electronic/remote training collars inhumane to use on dogs?
and yes these collars used to be and still occasionally are referred to as shock collars. BEFORE you ANSWER please read the myths on this page sitmeanssitcharlotte.com blog 2009 12 09 debunking the myth about remote collars Well I want to be able to keep my dogs off leash a lot more and give them freedom without sacrificing safety but I don't think I could ever trust them 100 % of the time and this seems like a good method of training because the electronic stimulus is gentler than a prong collar and a choke chain if used correctly. The Dogtra collars use the pager mode which is only vibration that gets the dogs attention so the electronic stimulus is rarely used. It shows them that you are still connected in a way even though they are off leash ... Here are some training places that have had lots of success with this methodunleashedunlimited.com videos sitmeanssit.com dog training videos watch the first vid it's funny justrightdogtraining.com blog 2008 10 dog training myth using a remo.html video is removed but the post is interesting What do you think about using them to train? And please don't say try it on yourself... because I have and it doesn't hurt...
What does a martingale dog training collar do?
I have only just heard about them and was interested to know if they help to train a dog to walk on a lead properly without pulling or barking. Thanks if you can help.Well she is just a small dog that I got from a shelter who has never learnt to walk properly. I've tried the other harnesses that go over the nose and under the body but they just cause her to have skin irritations so I stopped using them. I'm at a loss to know what to do with her. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Dog training collars?
i have a jack russel who is good apart from the fact that he constantly jumps up me and bites my hand and wants to play all the time it is beginning to really annoy me. If i sit on the sofa to watch tv he scratches at me. I have scratch and teeth marks and bruises all over me. He does not do it in an agressive way he just wants attention een though he gets it most of the time when its play time. He has plenty of long walks, ive used correction spray water spray, folding my arms turning away, ignoring him treat training, being firm showing himm im the boss, moving into his space when he bothers me on sofa, even a dog trainer at 60 pound an hour who was amazing but still my dog wont leave me alone. He is fine with my partner and will rest on his knee for ages and he does help when the dog is getting too excited. He is a Jack Russel soo i know they are hard work and we knew this when we got them but the dog is sriously bullying me. Please dont judge me on this as my vet recomended it and i think its cruel but i wanted to know what you all though about the remote shock collar thing that send a tiny pulse. Does it work and if so is it cruel. Like i said please dont judge me i am just curious and dont intend of getting onemany thanks
What is the best training collar for puppies?
Our puppy is 33 pounds now at 14 weeks he's a german shepard, husky, blue heeler mix. We originally started him on a harness like the type that goes around the front legs , and he responded great to that except that he did pull a bit on it, but for the most part he enjoyed his walks a lot and still walked by my side for the majority of the time. His " around the neck" collar we have as his necklace it's army print and will only be used for his identification, registration, and vaccines information. We did the mistake once and took him out just on that we ended up leaving where we were because he was uncontrollable and kept choking himself. Our neighbour gave us one of those " gentle lead" collars and he was good on his walk, didn't pull much, but he didn't seem like he was having much fun. Then, when I took it off, he seemed totally depressed and sad, so I gave him some treats, and he was still upset. We start puppy school at the end of the month, and they recommend the gentle lead, but I don't know. Other than pulling, which is the husky in him, he does really great on his harness and seems to enjoy it. Thoughts? Oh, and he's going to be a big dog the vet thinks between 100 120 pounds. I'm looking mainly for when we take walks and when we are out in public. He already knows how to sit, come, and we are working of heel. When puppy school starts, we need to learn " drop it" really bad. LoL. Thanks guys for all the suggestions. When we walk and he does great he gets treats, he's totally a treat dog. I will also spring " sit" on him while we are walking, and if he sits, which he usually does, then he gets a treat. I just gave him treats after I took the collar off because he looked sad.
Who makes the best dog shock training collar?
I have a 50 pound dog that will not respond to my wife's commands and would like to try this method for training the dog, but don't know what brand of collar to get. Does anyone have a good suggestion?
Is there a shock training collar that also can keep a dog within a certain radius of your body/device?
What choke training collar would be better?
I have large mixed breed, the trainer that I am about to start working with told me to get a choke collar I have been using a harness and it is not working well , so I have been trying to figure out what would be the best for him the Original or the pronged, I am thinking the prong would be better at distributing the pressure points and has a possibility of causing less injury to him.Thank you I am going to get a prong the trainer that I have hired is an RVT that breeds and trains police dogs, I think he knows what he is doing lol. And to the person that suggested a gentle leader, I have tried it didn't work, so now I am going to something else.Oh I know my dog is a mutt, I was told shep lab but he looks like a rott because of the reddenss.< a href " s186.photobucket.com albums x293 lauralynette 2007 ?action view& current 100 0677.jpg" target " blank" > < img src " i186.photobucket.com albums x293 lauralynette 2007 100 0677.jpg" border " 0" alt " Tyler" > < a> URL s186.photobucket.com albums x293 lauralynette 2007 ?action view& current 100 0677.jpg IMG i186.photobucket.com albums x293 lauralynette 2007 th 100 0677.jpg IMG URL
