Do puppy classes help teach bite inhibition?
My 10 week old Rottweiler puppy is a little devil. He play bites CONSTANTLY, and snaps and bites if i dont let him do what he wants to do. I am trying to train him in bite inhibition, but it seems to be a very very slow process, some days he seems to be going backwards . He is enrolled in puppy obedience classes which start in 3 weeks once iv had him fully vaccinated He already knows a fair few commands and learnt them so fast, but with him being a rottie i want him socialized alot, plus i want a well trained dog. I was just curious, seeing as my bite inhibition training isnt going so well, will puppy obedience classes help him learn how to control his biting?

Is it worth to take puppy classes?
I have two 3mo pure bred puppies. I've been thinking about taking puppy classes, however, it would cost $300 for me to finish 8 hours class. Having two puppies is very costly already and i am a very dedicated pet parent. I know it is very helpful to take those classes, however, what happens if we don't take puppy classes? Are they gonna be very antisocial? Is there any substitute for the classes that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Those who may think i am avoiding to spend 300 for my pups are wrong. I have an unbelievable setting for them at my home. Entire room is dedicated for them and they've been on their vet visits and the best diet available. We also live next to the woods and they love playing outdoors. I am very dedicated to them. I love them so much. I just don't want to waste my money for something if not a necessity. That's why i am asking to people with experience.
Petco or Petsmart puppy classes?
There aren't any private trainers in my area, so that option is out for me. And I know that lots of people complain about distractions in both of these classes, but I think it's a good thing because puppies need to be able to respond to you especially when they are in a busy place. So, anyone have any recommendations?
Should I not take my 2 year old son to PetSmart during puppy classes?
My son loves puppies and so do I however, our landlady won't let us get one. I've brought him to PetSmart a few times the first was just an accident during the puppy classes so he can walk around and look at all the puppies. He gets to pet quite a few and the owners seem to be just fine with the situation a lot of them think he's cute of course, I agree . I never let him approach them unless the owner makes the first move and is happy with the situation. However, I was wondering if this was bad for the puppy's training? Should we not go anymore so that he doesn't interfere with what the puppies are learning? I never really thought of it, as they have the puppies out on the store floor during business hours, but it just dawned on me today that maybe we shouldn't.Ooh, I should have looked at this sooner PetSmart is set up where they have the actual instructor time in an enclosed area then they let the owners out afterwords to practice and get a start on figuring things out. it's not during the sessions, kind of like a mid session break that's when we came the first time. The other times we came after it was over, when some were still around the store practicing and browsing.
Im scared of puppy classes :(?
Ok I have a 4 month old puppy who knows the sit, laydown, stay commands and I know he isnt the most confident around other dogs so I have booked him into a puppy class with 8 other puppys hopeing that he will learn that other dogs arent a threat. I cant drive so im having to pay for a taxi to and from the classes with him, im really really scared that he will freak out with all the other dogs and what if he misbehaves and they kick him out? ..really scared advice please he has always been shy of other dog prefering to avoid them. But there are some dogs round our area that are off lead and out of control and they bounce all over him not even returning to their owners till they feel like it.
Has anyone put their puppy through the puppy classes at petsmart?
Hey I am looking into putting my puppy into puppy training and they offer it at our local petsmart for $100 and the trainer there is well known. My vet suggested I take her there. It is an 8 week course and if I am not satisfied she can retake it with no charge. Our local kennel club has a puppy training class that is $40 that is 4 weeks and is just basic commands she already knows most basic commands . I am just wondering if anyone else has put their puppies or dogs through any of the training classes at petsmart if so did you like it? Thanks
Are puppy classes at Petsmart worth it to take?
I'm thinking about taking my puppy to puppy classes at PetSmart, it's $109 for 8 classes. Do you think it's worth it to take them? They said the first couple classes are kind of more informing you of the right kind of food and grooming and training and then they help you train your puppy come, sit, and a some potty training techniques. I just think it would be good so that they get a chance to be socialized with other dogs early on.
Best age for dog/puppy classes?
What is the best age to get a puppy into classes. This class would consist of walking on a leash, sit, stay, that sort of thing.
How do I get my dog to focus on me during puppy classes!?
I have a 13 week old Bichi Poo. He is a great dog, doing super at potty training, and at home he knows the following commands, sit, down, stand, follow, and " look at me" . He does them FLAWLESSLY at home. With or without treats. Now, out on walks, if he sees ANYONE, he gets SOOO excited, and frantically runs to say hi. If they don't want to say hi, or when I make him continue on our walks, he cries. I ignore him and just keep walking. But he is WAY too focused on meeting new dogs or people. He loves them all At our classes we will ask him to do the same commands that he does at home perfectly, and he won't even look at us Treats that he loves at home he could care less about. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can have him focus on US? He needs to learn to listen on walks, out in public, anywhere What we have tried is, not feeding him his afternoon lunch to make him hungry for treats, we have tried using a high pitched squeeky toy in place of treats, tried jerking the leash slightly, have tried putting the yummy smelly treat pretty much in his mouth, but he will NOT focus. Is there any one who has had the same prob?Oh yah, I forgot to mention that is another thing we do. He gets at least 1 45 minute walk and another 30 minute walk a day. Before class we take him running for like 45 minutes and he is tired for like 5 minutes until he sees another dog or human. That is a really good idea to use a special treat for the class
Should i put my male 12 week doberman into puppy classes at petsmart?

Should I enroll my pup in puppy classes before he has all of his shots?
I have a 9 week old aussie pup and I hear that the most crucial socialization time is before they are 12 weeks old. I want to enroll him in puppy classes here in town but i'm terrified he might catch parvo since he is only on his 2nd set of shots. I had a puppy catch it a few years ago, even after 3 sets of shots I just moved very far away from my family this summer so I don't really know anyone around here that I can ask to come visit. Do you think it's very risky to put him in puppy classes this soon?I hear it's so contagious that it can be tracked in almost anywhere from shoes, maybe even other dogs feet. It's so scary
