Question: I need pet training tips?

I need tips on how to potty train our 6 mo old puppy. its a very skidish dog. we got it from someone that may have been abused before we got it. no proof. but we have to leave her outside everydayand night because she continues to pee in the house. we have tried many things but she continues to pee inside. we'll leave her outside almost all day and it seems the dog just about holds it all in just too go in the house. she's so skitish. soon as she comes in she cowers to a couch r chair, or corner of the room. she's not afraid of us, but she does cower outa habit. any tips. it don't seem like she gets the idea. she is trainable, i know that, but i just need house breaking tips.

Have u tried the crate method? dogs take a long time to potty train, so be patient. Even if she learns to pee outside she might still have accidents. If u havent tried the crate, try it. Put her in the crate at night, she wont go in there and as soon as she wakes up take her outside. Do the same thing during the day.. after she wakes up frmo a nap, take her outside, when he staops playing, take her outsde. Its a pain, i know... but they do learn. Try to understand how often she pees and take her out before that. Like if she pees every two hours take her out every 1:45min, or so... she'll learn, just be patient. If you've already tried that then let us know so we can be more helpfull. Good luck

Well, do it like you would a baby. Everytime she pees in the house, say 'Go hurry up, good girl' and clean it up. When she pees / craps on command, the start taking her outside every hour, and i mean EVERY hour. If she pees when you say 'go hurry up' outside, praise her as if you would die if she didn't do that. It works. :D

Just use the newspaper way. you watch the next time your dog pees in the house and after cleaning it up put newspaper over it. then hopefully the dog will again pee in that spot (recognizing the smell) and then you can put the paper out in the yard and try to let the puppy out every 4 hours from when it last peed and if it relieves itself on the paper you are well on you're way to training it.
