Can anyone give me any tips for home attack/ guard dog training?
I have a pit mix 42lbs thats has been through obedience school training and has passed and done well. since she exibits good guard dog traits never mind the pitbull part .she has no problem biting strangers and holding them back ive seen her do it many times lol are there any tips that i can do at home to make her a bit more aggressive to intruders when they come in to my house. she only guards me on the street. she wont even bark when someone comes into that house. i tried some attack dog techniques on her but it didn't work. any help? She only nips at strangers if they touch her. as for my house OF course my windows and door is locked i live in a big city.i know no one is gonna believe me but the dog was given to me and already came like that. she does it naturally not by training no one made her do it. Can someone please just be nice its only a dog the problem is she wont bark at intruders. Can some one just answer my question? i mean a regular person not a militant dog obsessed person
Can anyone give me advice on formal guard dog training?
i just got a new puppy. German Shepard mixed with some lab possibly. we got him mainly for the purpose of being a guard dog. since we didnt have aalot of money for a full blooded pup we also dont have alot of money for k9 training. we want him to be a serious bad ass because we've had problems with people messing around the house, but we dont want him too be a nut so and attack the neighbors.anyhow if anyone knows of any books or website on sorta do it yourself k9 training, that would be great. also, we want him to be super protective, but does anyone know how he may respond if we have a baby after he is trained... as of right now he loves kids.also i have another dog thats a complete pansy... will she be a hindrance in training the pup?i just wanted him to attack on command... not pull babies from burning buildings... people train their dogs all the time without giving $3000 to a dog trainer... i could buy a gun for that much and considering that a dog is a moving target i think your delusional...
Guard Dog Training...?
I have a big dream of someday becoming a guard and personal protection trainer. I have searched the web looking for details on the work and job, but can't seem to find one touch of helpful information. Experienced details would be excellent. What will I need to do in order to become the trainer? Any certificates, studying specific dog behaviours? Even Sch or Ipo titles? And what is the yearly income of an average trainer in the work?I still don't know how I'll ever end up breaking the dream to my parents in the end, but hopefully they'll understand. Thanks for all the help and time you give.

Guard dog training or natural?
i just rescued a mixed breed puppy, part lab, maybe shepherd, maybe maybe part pit bull... i am wondering, when wanting a dog who will bark at intruders and generally guard the house, but, also be a good friendly and trustworthy dog, is that something you can train them to be or is it something they are born with? like, do they have to have a guard dog personality to be a good watchful dog?i was only wondering if you want the dog to be a guard dog, does that take training or is it natural? maybe it makes more sence because i absolutely did not mean that i was going to train her as an attack dog... ok... thanks
Guard dog training advice needed?
I want a dog that is a good family dog but can also be protective of my family house. Ive looked into some of the more common guard dog breeds but then a new thought occured to me. We already have a 2 year old male chocolate lab who shows some signs of being protective. He sometimes barks when people knock at the door or enter the house and he barks and growls when people are in the his yard. My question is what are ways that i can encourage these protective type behaviors? I certainly dont' want to create a dangerous dog. But are there safe ways of teaching him some of this stuff without paying a fortune sending him to some protection dog school? thanks for the help

Guard Dog Training ??
I have purchased a rottweiler puppy which I have named Zeus, I am looking to to train the dog as a personal guard dog, I am aware of the name that the breed has got through mindless idiots and newspaper press, but have owned a rotti named Del many years ago and he was nothing but a true gent not just to me but to my small children.I would like to know if anyone knows of a guard dog training programme in which I can take Zeus when he gets a little older, money is no object, can anyone point me in the right direction, I live in the north east of england
