Do you think I should become a dog trainer when I grow up?
I love dogs, and since I like to encourage people to buy from shelters I don't think I would want to be a dog breeder. People tell me I should become a vet but I'm not sure about that either... But a dog trainer is something I would really like I'm 13 and have already trained my cocker spaniel mix to sit, stay, shake, take a treat easy instead of snapping, etc. And I got a really good dog training book for Christmas that I'm gonna use on my new dog my dad's getting and to help train my cocker. I also love psychology sort of things and that also has to do with understanding a dog's mind too bad i can't be a canine psychiatrist I really like helping people too and that would be good. Do you think a dog trainer is my destiny?

Should i become a dog trainer?
ive been working at Petco in my area for about 6monthes now. i love being around animals.. i even have 4cats at home. and always wanted a dog, but my parents wont let me ..the other day at work one of the dog trainers asked me if i was interested in becoming a dog trainer.. all i would have to do is go thru schooling and i think i would get paid alil extra for puting so much time into it you know? i would have to hold classes 2 times a week.. yeah that means two differnt classes a week for 6weeks.. it was something ive thought about doing in the past.. but never went through with it because i was never allowed to have a dog..my uncle who passed away 2months ago was a dog trainer and was amazing at what he worked at.anyways..my question is, should i become a dog trainer? if its at petco or anywhere else.? maybe this would acautlly get me to go through with getting a puppy for real..

How do I become a dog trainer or obedience trainer if I don't know my own dog?
I have always loved animals, but don't have the space or lifestyle that would be healthy for a dog. I live in an apartment and work long hours. But I would love to become a trainer. How can I get experience without having my own dog? And do you think people clients would care whether or not I'm a dog owner myself. After all, I don't' think it should because I'm a responsible pet owner I have a cat but I know that it's not a good environment for a dog.By the way, if I was a trainer I would no and have some type of experience. I plan on getting certification, but everything I'm seeing is telling me to start with " my own dog." So that's why I'm not sure where to start.I do volunteer at the SPCA, but that's only for walking the dogs. Although I guess they would probably let me try to train it too.

Steps to becoming a dog trainer....?
I want to become a professional dog trainer. I'm 14 right now so I have plenty of time, but like do you need a license to be a pro dog trainer? Should I get a certificate? There is no major in dog training so how am I supposed to find a school for that? What should I do? Thanks for you guys' help

Become a dog trainer?
I am in a decent office job where I am able to make ends meet. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to be employed but being tied down to a desk and phone all day is really taking it's toll on me. My natural love of animals draws me toward dog training vet tech. Anyone have any experience in this field? Can you share salary potential, thoughts on my change in this economy, chances of success??Again I am grateful to be employed but I think for my mental well being I need a change. Thanks

I have been playing with this idea for quite some time. My family is very supportive for me to do this. I was wondering what are some good schools that offer programs for dog trainers. I was looking into a school called Animal Behavior College, anyone heard about this one? Also my family suggested me volunteering at a shelter or animal rescue.
